Silks 1
About
(Also known as aerial contortion, aerial ribbons, aerial silks, aerial tissues, fabric, ribbon, or tissue)
Silks is an aerial circus skill in which artists perform dynamic shapeswhile hanging from two lengths of fabric. Performers use the fabric to wrap, suspend, fall, swing, and spiral their bodies into and out of various positions.
One of the more challenging skills, Silks offers an opportunity to exercise your core and upper body through strength-building and dynamic movement. Over time you’ll start to incorporate creative expression into your aerial moves.
Who it's for
Silks 1 is suitable for complete beginners OR those who have completed an Introduction to Aerial course or Circus Arts 1 Aerial.
If you want to learn aerial circus but aren't sure what skill to focus on, have a look at our Introduction to Aerial course.
Our Level 1 courses are based on curriculums that are the same each term, so we don't recommend repeating them. However, you can try a Level 1 course in a different skill.
