Cold Pouring
WHEN: Thu 12 – Sat 14 Feb 2026
WHERE: National Centre for Circus Arts
The National Centre for Circus Arts is excited to present an ensemble production from our BA2 students, Cold Pouring, directed by Hobbit. They come to us with over two decades of experience in the performing arts sector, including roles as a director, choreographer, teacher, and facilitator, among others.
Cold Pouring  aims to explore meta-modernist concepts such as ambiguity, reconstruction, collaboration, and creative paradox. Inspired by figures like Claude Cahun, Leonora Fini, and Margerite Humeau, the work will draw on the mechanisms of Surrealist Theatre from a Feminist perspective. Hobbit, through the BA2 students, will invite the audience into a liminal space where the multitudes of human experience is played out in wondrous complexity.

About the Director
With an MA in Directing Circus and over 20 years as an award-winning international performer specialising in acrobatics, Hobbit is dedicated to exploring and expressing meaning through circus physicality. Their work is politically focused and grounded in the shared yet diverse experience of existing in a human body.
Hobbit is queer and neurodivergent, with extensive experience in various performance contexts: from small-scale children’s theatre to West End productions and outdoor, site-specific, spectacular ensemble shows. Currently, they are focused on crafting nuanced narratives through the inherent dramaturgy of circus.
