Upswing are seeking four aerialists for a new play at the New Vic Theatre.

A new stage adaptation of The Little Mermaid created for the New Vic Theatre needs 4 aerial artists of any gender, who are highly skilled in both aerial silks and straps. Must be UK-based.

R&D dates:   21 – 25 July and 18 – 22nd Aug – London

Role:

Merfolk – Non speaking parts that will need a high level of skill on aerial silks, straps and some training and/or experience in learning ground based choreography.

We will be creating sequences specifically for this show so you will need to be adaptable with your silks and be confident enough to quickly learn new material and choreography.

Merfolk will be part of an ensemble that feature throughout the performance as active members of the ensemble, physically on stage and also support some elements of puppetry.  During the rehearsal period we’ll make all sequences including aerial sequences from scratch at our base in Staffordshire.

The New Vic Theatre specialises in ‘ensemble’ productions – where all cast members are as important as the other – regardless of ‘size’ of role. ALL artists contribute to make the ‘whole’ project and as such are deemed uniformly vital to the success of the show. We are particularly interested in performers who are happy to try things out and muck in – usually giving greater job satisfaction.
