London Youth Circus
Who it's for
Young people aged 11-21 years who are interested in taking their circus skills further through progressive and focused training. We take students based on future potential as well as existing experience. Several of our BTEC and BA Hons students have come through the London Youth Circus.
What you can do
LYC students train in one main discipline; Rope, Silks, Static Trapeze, Juggling, Acrobatics and Tight wire. This progressive programme is designed to inspire critical thinking and develop your circus skills, both technically and creatively.
Students must be committed to attending at least 80% of their classes per term. They have the option of taking extra circus supporting classes that allow them to continue learning a variety of circus skills and enhance fitness and conditioning.
When you can do it
The main training takes place on Sundays with circus supporting classes taking place throughout the week.
Supporting classes are available to LYC students throughout the week. These classes allow students to keep up strength, conditioning and vary their skill base. The classes schedule may alter from term to term.
- LYC 1 can access up to 3 per week, dependent on eligibility.
- LYC 2 can access up to 4 per week, dependent on eligibility
- LYC 3 can access up to 5 per week, dependent on eligibility.
Students are not required to use their allocation. For each class there is a limited capacity, so not every student will be able to take all their chosen classes. Booking is completed before the start of each term.
