Summer School 2024

Join us at the National Centre for four days of jam packed circus skills and training.

Try your hand at silks, juggling, hoop diving, acrobalance, flying trapeze, clowning, aerial, tumbling, parkour and much more.

Our Summer School offers the chance for young people to try out a range of circus disciplines across a period of four days, located at our magnificent converted power station between Hoxton Square and Old Street.

Participants will have the opportunity to try out a variety of skills and will be taught by our team of experienced circus teachers and performers in our purpose-built professional training spaces.

Our Summer School is split into three, mixed-ability, age categories and is suitable for those who have never done any sort of circus before or for those that have been participating in classes recreationally for the past few years.

See our FAQ page for more information.

More information

From Tuesday to Thursday participants will have the opportunity to try out a variety of circus skills. Examples of the skills they will get to try are:

  • Aerial Skills – Silks, rope, flying trapeze, static trapeze, Chinese pole and aerial hoop.
  • Equilibristics – Tightwire and juggling
  • All things hoop – Cyr wheel, hula-hooping, hoop diving
  • Acrobatics – Tumbling, parkour and acrobalance
  • Theatrics – Movement and clowning

On Friday, participants will be able to choose a skill/discipline from a selection of the skills done earlier in the week. Then working individually or in small groups with a trainer they will work to create a short performance.

Those who would like to will then be able to show their routine at the end of the day to friends and family.

While we cannot specify in advance what skills your child will do each day we aim to ensure that all participants experience a wide variety of disciplines from each of the main categories. These timetables are a guide and are subject to changes.
