About

Aerial Hoop – also known as Lyra, Aerial Ring, or Cerceau/Cerceaux – is a circular steel apparatus suspended from the ceiling, designed for performing aerial acrobatics. Whether it’s used static, spinning, or swinging, the hoop becomes a stage in the air where strength, flexibility, and artistry meet. In this class, you’ll learn how to mount, pose, and transition through a range of shapes and movements. It’s a captivating discipline that builds core and upper body strength, spatial awareness, and creative expression.

Who it’s for

This course is the place to start if you have no or limited experience of circus, but want to learn from the basics, as well as developing your fitness and helping you gain confidence on specialist circus equipment. Once our teachers feel that a student is ready, you will be able to progress to Level 2.

If you have experience and would like to start training at the National Centre on a more advanced level course, you can book an Aerial Assessment.

What to wear?

Please wear comfortable clothing such as leggings or tracksuit bottoms, a T-shirt or vest, and clean indoor trainers. For aerial classes, clothing that covers the limbs (like long sleeves and leggings) is advised.

Course Information

Please note, no classes will run from 16 – 22 February due to the half term.
